Hcq isn’t going to save you if it’s started after you’re already in ards from this.

I will bet money it helps prevent progression to that point.

Look at tamiflu, it won’t even work if started 48h after symptom onset.

We can’t be of the mindset to give this to our sickest, we have to give it to everyone showing symptoms.

I’m very interested to see what happens in India; they’re just giving to to everyone regardless

We had a cease and desist from our Health Commissioner (RB/BSN/MBA) until public pressure changed. I understand the need for chronic patients vs current supply but that was foolish. It has since been relaxed somewhat.

Nevada also had prohibited use. Not sure what they are up to now.

I am not saying it is the perfect choice, but we lost some time due to restrictions. Our number of cases is small but it did triple during that period. Could we have reduced that? Not sure but these are unusual times.

But given the side effects would it not be irresponsible to prescribe to lower risk patients?
Without getting too much in the weeds, the side effects are generally both rare and recognizable. They really are not out of kilter with a litany of prescription meds. The fact serious side effects do exist though is why meds like plaquenil require prescription.
