I just care about stopping Maduro from fricking with american interests.

Saving some people in faraway lands is a mistake neocons and neoliberals make time and time again.

I know exactly what you are saying, I'm not even in disagreement with the sentiment.

There are many things that can be done about problems with Iran, VZL, Russia, etc. My problem is that we keep doing the stupid ones, and we keep fricking it up as a consequence.

The establishment doesn't give a shite either, because Intervention is its own reward for many of them and many of the most powerful players use the US empire to protect their interests abroad. For example, A certain segment of our political elite are so powerful they can have one meeting with the president and get him to stay in Syria to protect their homeland.

It's all bullshite. We should reject it. I also agree it doesn't mean we have to be dumb about it.

Thank you grey goose! That's very comforting to know. I really appreciate the time you took to educate me and make me feel much much better about her deployment. Thanks again :)

Venezuela will trade one dictator for another.

Remains to be seen how the poors who love Maduro will react if he's removed but I think they can control them enough and mollify them.

You really thin the current foreign power influences like China and Russia will end with a new regime?

I never said that. But It will clearly diminish.

Russia has a lot of debt in the Maduro regime and China wants the oil there. With the oppositional government installed, it will put us back in the drivers seat.

Anything that can hinder them is a goal worth taking.

I would prefer that we stay out of it completely and let it collapse on it's own.

What we're doing right now is a good medium between both sides.

No boots on the ground and no hot fighting unless they attack us, but still put plenty of pressure on them to the point where Maduro almost left this morning.

South America is a lot different than the mideast. There's no dogmatic religion that is incompatible with western civilization at play here that's keeps tribalism in force.

Dude, it's a lot different in some ways, but it's also very similar in the ways that are relevant to this conversation.

Nah, money talks. China and Russia will still be there

Still waiting for your specific instance of vast examples of American intervention for the greater good.

Panama Canal.
Israel.
Texas, and most west of the Mississippi.

Granted we don't do all things very well, and there are "business interests" behind it. But acting like foreign intervention isnt a part of the "American way" is naive.
