I have never heard America be referred to as an Empire. I have heard America be referred to as a Hegemony or Pax Americana. Just meaning that we keep the chaos of the world in check by our power.

All I'm saying with a lot that Trump is doing is that it's just warmed up full spectrum dominance Pax Americana that Project For A New American Century (Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rumsfeld) wrote about.
