I’m curious about what they talked about to make her retire? Couldn’t she just stay on as deputy or was she attached to the hip of Coats? Something seems off about her and her departure.

I think Trump made it abundantly clear that her services were not desired and especially unnecessary.

DNI gets to pick his own team, just like RR left once Barr was on board and up to speed.
Under normal circumstances, the Deputy DNI would fill in until new boss at ODNI is confirmed. In this case, Swamp Creature Royale Gordon was informed that she was wholly extraneous to the direction ODNI is headed, post-Coats.
But Trump held up his likely end of the bargain and gave her a nice send-off 9n Twitter.
I am ECSTATIC about this development. Naval officers have been very good to MAGA movement.
