Trump again donating his salary

President Trump has donated his second-quarter salary – totaling $100,000 – to the U.S. Department of Education, which will use the donation to help fund a summer camp focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – so-called STEM skills – at the department.
...
Trump, who has been criticized for not releasing tax returns that would show how much he has donated to charities over the years, said in 2016 that he would not accept the president's annual salary of $400,000.
Earlier this year, Trump donated his first-quarter salary – $78,333.32 – to the National Park Service.

He got a downvote for donating his salary.

this was right after cutting their funding by 9 Billion dollars.
donating 100,000 after that is genuinely insulting.

It is a nice gesture, but I agree it's odd after supporting cuts of that magnitude.

Is he claiming it back on his tax return?

yes, of course, who cares if the U.S. Department of Education has their budget cut by 13 percent. its not as if that matters, the education system in the US is running so smooth as it is, theres really nothing that needs improving.

The department of education is just so great and successful. Let's just keep dumping money into it. Go finish your lead paint chips.

I'd hate to see your personal or family budget because it seems like you don't understand a balance sheet.
Cutting spending when you are eyeball deep in debt is hard reality. Sure you'd like to spend money on that worthy cause, but you simply do not have it to spend. Sorry.
Federal budget - broke - cuts needed.
Trump personal budget - not broke - can donate his salary.
The two actions are not a contradiction nor an "insult."

Trump literally just dumped 100K into it. Are you accusing Trump of dining on paint chips?

Let's throw more money at it. That'll fix it.
What's that? We don't have any money? Nonsense, just print some more!

And he made sure everyone knew about it. It was the lead off on yesterday's White House press briefing

Hey the media has been foaming at the mouth to know what Trump spends his money on. He's just being accommodating.
