Huntsville keeps winning because it has so much going for it. Wealthiest area in Alabama with good government and leadership

Good for Alabama.

I thought for sure it was going closer to Toyota's existing plant in north Mississippi.

It's going to be great for jobs for a lot of people, and it is an obvious great place to build.

I still hate to see it happen. It's going right in my old stomping ground, from when I was a kid.
It's an old Farm called The Lowe Farm, several thousand acres, more recently owned by a doctor from Decatur.
I use to drive all over there in old willys jeep and my 3 wheeler and hunt and fish and look for arrowheads. When I was older that's where I would take my girlfriends to get lucky,or not.
It's located between Beaver Dam Springs and Limestone Creek, there was lots of land, but no people at all.

DAMN YOU PROGRESS... I want to scream at the sky a bit myself.

Actually, that area is probably about 50%/50% if I was just guessing. Until recently it's been very rural, but they put The Polaris factory south of there a couple of miles already,so It's been changing fast.

That's been about average wage ( for semi skilled people) for the area for a while,it's also a fairly expensive area to live.

There is a huge Toyota plant in Huntsville. That’s interesting

That location is about 20-25 miles away,in Madison County,It's primarily a engine plant (was at first anyway) they built the engines for the Tundras there. I guess they still do.

Neither location is actually In Huntsville, even though The City of Huntsville annexed the properties.
This new place is about 20 miles west of Huntsville (really closer to Decatur),The other is about 15 Miles North of Huntsville.

I think a lot has to do with cheap power, thanks to TVA,and the land is so ideal for building on.
The site where The Toyota plant will be going in ,is up on a slight hill,it drains well, not rocky. Good deep top soil, easy to grade, mostly already cleared for farming.

There are many thousands more acres of identical property available, surrounding this site too.
I think the Polaris and Toyota plants are just the beginning of what is about to happen there.
As I have already said,I know it's good for a lot of people, but I kind of hate seeing it happen.
