Could it divide the locker room?

Ben is breaking ranks it seems. Clearly the team couldn't figure out a consensus on what to do.

I think they wanted to keep politics out of the game.

yeah was a smart move in my opinion

In certain sense Villneauve brought the pain. I agree with him, but if they all stayed in the company line we don't want to get involved in this business was smart. We are here to entertain not give you our assorted political believes.

it was a good non-position until the guy screwed it up

again I agree with him, but if they all stayed in it would have worked out for them.

This.

He broke ranks and it makes them look absolutely awful. On another note, because he has since apologized for his actions, that makes Tomlin and the NFL look even worse.

This is just spinning out of control.

Tomlin likely meant well by keeping them in the locker room - non-committal and not being controversial by the players not having a choice. He likely sees the writing on the wall and they'll come out next time.

It is truly hilarious.

People will view it as him apologizing for standing for the anthem, not for breaking ranks.

We will start seeing more of the NFL backtracking.

I am seeing worse than that- they brow beat veteran that stood up for muslim brother too Army into apologizing for loving his country.

It is a zero win for them at this point

No it wasn’t a good non-position. I’ve been saying this all day, the decision to disregard the anthem and stay in the tunnel clearly broke with the status quo position. The backlash would have been the same regardless of what V did.

I simply cannot understand why people think that the affirmative action of not doing something you have always done is suddenly a way to stay impartial.

They shouldn't have tried to do something unanimously.

Go out there and let the kneelers kneel and the standers stand. That's kind of the whole fricking point that 29 other teams seemed to get yesterday that somehow eluded the Steelers.

They could have done that by standing and respecting the flag and the anthem while choosing a different venue to protest
