Let's take our "most conservative president ever"'s view point. Signed "therapeutic" abortion into law in our most populous state and "tear down this wall." And amnesty...

But is it really?
Isn't the correct analogy for abortion in this case execution as a punishment for illegal immigration?

I mean, deported is implicitly still alive, no?
if we really want to work this analogy thoroughly, it would probably be more accurate to say that “border security“ is the analog of “birth control.”

The GOP wants to focus upon Physical barriers (abstinence only), while the Dems want to focus upon other forms of border security (which would include birth control, efucation and yes abortion).

The Dems don’t mind throwing a few dollars at that abstinence (ports of entry, border patrol, etc.), but they do not see it as the best primary approach. The GOP is happy to throw money at the Dems’ ideas (except abortion) but want to focus on abstinence.

Abortions are not intended to curb unwanted pregnancies. The unwanted pregnancy already exists when the decision is made to have an abortion.

Well, I guess I should just change the word pregnancies to births. Pretty much the same thing.

Not accurate. Trump's plan includes more agents and tech as well.

The wall is a waste of money and making abortions illegal is an overstep of government.

Easy enough.

What I'm trying to figure out is why a bunch of "conservatives" disagree.

In the other thread, I was told that this wouldn't happen. We wouldn't need to keep spending money on it and CBP wouldn't benefit from an increase in spending...

First I would have to agree that the wall is similar to abstinence. I don't.

And anyway if the wall IS similar to abstinence, it would work by itself.

How many women get pregnant without insemination? I'll guess 0.

You are taking the analogy far too literally. It is simply intended to demonstrate that each party has a different area of emphasis with regard to a single larger issue (birth control versus border control).

Depends on what you want "work" to mean. Does it prevent pregnancy? Sure. It would also prevent the survival of humanity.

There you go again....

Confusing wanted pregnancies with unwanted pregancies.

Sounds familiar.

Never heard of a women having her wanted pregancy aborted for birth control.

Are you saying the wall will be selective based on desire to come into the country?

I think you have went off the rails.

You understand there is legal immigration and illegal immigration.

You understand there is wanted pregnancies and unwanted pregancies.

Stop trying to lump them together. They are different.

Not at all. The comparison sucks. I'm just here to ruin it.

You're combining two things that are different. That's cheating.

Okay, big guy. Give me one. Give me a "morale" method of ceasing illegal immigration.

You have 2 minutes.

I can't believe the word "morale" got injected into this issue by Pelosi anyway.

edit:

2 minutes are up.
