This segment on Ellen was designed to separate Michelle from the image of a first lady. They are redefining her for a run in 2020, she can't be a simple first lady relegated to exchanging pleasantries with the likes of Melania, she is far superior to that.

That is why they use this situation to make her look so far beyond this silly traditional exchange.

Maybe, but I don't think she can just run for President. She'd have to be a Senator or something to start out. But you could be right, she could be beginning the transition from Former First Lady to "First Transgender POTUS".

Nah, she's been fawned over for a decade by the media and political elites. Plus, she's considered royalty and the allure of the first black female president is too good to pass up. Even if she loses, they can still milk the "America is still racist and sexist" bullshite until the next election.
