quote:Exactly. No way people could evaluate the risks for themselves and act in an appropriate manner for their personal risk-tolerance. Nope. Gotta have government make one-size-fits-all decisions for them. For their own good. We can't possibly have making decision about their own life (unless it's abortion) out there. Too dangerous.
Yeah, sucks that the govenor wants to try and keep the citizens of this state safe.

If you somehow think that Vitter or Rispone are "liars and crooks" that Blanco and JBE are somehow "not", and that either Vitter or Rispone are not qualified to be governor and JBE is, then I don't know what to tell you.

Don't complain when your Democrat governor - and for whom YOU are mostly responsible - does Democrat things.

Not limited to LA.
GOP voters routinely cut off their nose to spite their face.

I voted for Vitter. He was well qualified and wasn't a liar.
I stayed home because Rispone was both unqualified and a liar.

But he chased whores and a lot of Republicans bought the "Honor Code" bullshite.

And, however reluctant, however unfortunate, that makes you as much a part of the problem as Republicans who stayed home or voted JBE the first time.
I get it - you don't want to admit you fricked up, but you fricked up. It's okay, you weren't alone.

Someone missed my girl Kayleigh throwing out all the news articles by left leaning publications doing exactly what you’re saying. Are they culpable as well or was your statement purely partisan?

Elections go on whether you vote or not. Politicians will align with their parties, for the most part, on national issues.
So by you not voting, it means you're fine with the ideas the Democrats have, and are willing to allow them to implement them. Because that's the outcome if/when a Dem wins.

Yes thank Republicans! Hate when I hear New Orleans elected him!! The crossovers elected him

No, but I'm not leaving the house to vote for someone who's no better.

Nope. Lying Eddie lost by a helluva lot more than one vote. I slept very well that night knowing I didn't vote for either lying crook.

It's fine. Like I said, you apparently were OK enough with the Dem ideals, to NOT go vote against them.
Go back and look at the 2016 presidential election. A whole lotta people held their noses when they voted Trump, but they did so because in their minds, under no circumstances should Hillary be President. And if that meant taking a chance on an obnoxious rich man with no political experience who acts like an arse at times, so be it.
That actually turned out great. He got the Supreme Court justices we needed, had the economy rolling until the virus hit, and his legacy no matter what will be that Supreme Court.

It’s completely irrelevant unless we are exhausting our medical capacity
Well that’s exactly why it’s relevant then right? If we’re double the hospitalizations we were from a month ago, medical professionals seem concerned we could trend in that direction again, so they’re taking preventive measures. You wouldn’t want to wait until capacity was exhausted to take the measures would you? That would be rather silly.

On June 21, LA had 589 Covid 19 patients in hospitals. On July 11, we have 1182 Covid 19 patients in hospitals. We have had 302 more deaths from Covid 19 during that same time period.
Numbers are false. The largest hospital Corp in Louisiana had 78 COVID 19 patients on the June date you are quoting. They have been taking the transfers from around the state to fill their RICU and had difficulty filling. Admittedly that number has risen to north of 150 in the time period but it’s not even close to what you are quoting.
When Covid peaked in the first 2 weeks of April we had 1600 total COVID patients in the state. We are not even close to that.
