But you still have to itemize to get it, no?

The much larger standard deductions make that less likely.

My apologies - the new plans will mean less money in your pocket than the status quo.
Do you understand how fricking rare it is to have 4 dependents, yet not be eligible for tax credits? That would assume 3-4 kids in college at same time.

It's not a coincidence that all the liberals in this thread are magically finding their tax bill going up

It's not possible. It is close to impossible for a BR resident to see their taxes go up.

, what are you fussing about? LSURussian said he couldn't find a scenario where the tax reform was worse than the status quo. I found one. Pretty simple.

We would save $7000-$9000

We normally pay $12K per year due to pass through profit taxation on a business we own.

I don't understand why that matters?

Plug it into the calculator - $36k, married filing jointly, 4 children under 17...

Decidly middle class fellow here.

Save 2500 with the House.

Save 2800 with the Senate.

Winning.

Yeah no pass-through, not too much in cap gains, single, income in mid-low 100s, high state taxes (when I switch to Virginia at least), highish property taxes, high mortgage deduction.

The change is minimal, so no beef. But it's not just guys raising four kids on $40k who won't benefit.

I still like the plan if it spurs sustained growth.
