I’m thinking everyone is oversimplifying. It isn’t a matter of just slashing spending here or there. Maybe the state doesn’t need as many colleges as it currently supports but you will also be gutting entire communities by slashing budgets so heavily. Where will all the unemployed work? I’m not saying these or similar cuts aren’t necessarily the right move but I wouldn’t delude myself into thinking that a very large number of innocent people won’t have their lives upended either. It’s a lot easier cutting someone else’s spending than it is cutting one’s own.

This. Take big cities with more than 4 million citizens. How many colleges do they have?

Also, for those interested, this state spends a shite ton in contracts. Like 14 billion. I'd start with that.

This state doesnt want to fix it's budget woes, it wants to tax tax tax though.

If that thing is true then you guys need to clean house . I think part of what makes things so hard is so many people having different opinions. It would be nice to see the sides work together but they seem to be getting further apart .
