The US has been a Socialist country for around a 100 years. Most people are just in denial or don’t understand what socialism means.

Pretty sure most dems aren't completely socialist. This is just a retarded take by those who don't understand the difference between Democratic Socialim and pure socialism

Or maybe Democrats aren’t smart enough to realize that there’s no difference btwn Democratic Socialism and regular Socialism just because you put the word Democratic in front of it. That’s like painting a blue house white. It’s still the same damn house.

They have “elections” in socialist Venezuela, so technically that’s Democratic Socialism.

Yeah much to what PT thinks most Dems are not socialists. But then again knowing that would require most of these posters to leave their bubble

No. I'm one of the ones who supports meritocratic capitalism, but opposes our current crony billionaire plutocratic capitalism.

Once a society gets large and complex a certain amount of "socialism" becomes absolutely necessary for things to function.

At least if one defines socialism as shared resources and costs. The military, the highway system, agencies like the TVA, social security, the banking system, etc. all are shared and by the wide definition, socialist.

I would posit a greater percentage of Americans than 40 favors some amount of greater socialism than we currently have. Especially in realm of healthcare. Our current system with raging out of control costs needs to be reformed.

All advanced countries outside of the USA have some form of universal healthcare. Not one country that has taken up universal healthcare has gone back to the dog eat dog system the USA has.

In other areas, such as all of the retail sector, capitalism works far better.

America is a mix of capitalism and socialism. The Scandinavian countries are pretty much similar expect you have larger socialist programs but calling the countries socialist is plain ignorance

That’s actually NOT the definition of socialism. Socialism is government control
of traditionally private entities, like health insurance companies.

OTOH - government exercising public functions like public roads, police, and military is NOT socialism. That’s just government.

That is socialism and it's not needed. We don't need the gment for anything other than defense. Eisenhower knew this that's why the interstate system was for defense

Farm subsidies
VA
SSN
Medicare
Medicaid
Unemployment
Earned Income tax credits
WIC, SNAP, and CHIP
Housing and Energy assistance

Some these are good programs, but they are all a socialist programs.

There has never had been a true socialist country, because it would never work. Many countries have social programs, but some take it to extremes.

There maybe a country that doesn’t have socialist programs I just don’t know of any.

Every government has adopted some type socialist policies.
