I'll help you out again. There is no mountain between my 4 LAND ISPs and the other neighborhoods with one. There is no river. No swamp. No slab of metal or granite buried in the ground. No lake. No glacier.
See if you can figure out what is causing the monopoly on the MORE REGULATED side of the county line.
Literally none of this has anything at all to do with NN, unless you are also arguing that government regulations are never necessary and truly free markets will always benefit the consumer with no need for. Government oversight.
Is that your position?

How? How do you end them right now and suddenly flood the market with competitors?
Give me one concrete example.
holy frick
You genuinely haven't got the first clue on economics, do you?
I mean damn man. Just damn.

Back to the "don't agree with my regulation therefore you're an anarchist" approach I see.
You're foundering.

Free markets will give you competition and innovation.
That's a win win for the consumer.
So how do you make a truly competitive free ISP market without any government oversight or regulations?

That's convenient. Why have discussions? Why debate? Why explain my position?
I am simply saying that I understand why someone would see it's basically like pissing up a rope in this case.
quote:Well, I mean, clearly, and demonstrably at this very moment..........the answer to that is "no".
You'll never understand and I'm right and youre wrong and there's no reason to ever talk to each other.
That's how you live life?
I mean, did you seriously just ask that question in a 27 page thread of which I'm in like 20 of them?

What are basic principles of economics?
What happens in a profitable and accessible market?
The example you're looking for is the breakup of the Bell monopoly which led to a flood of long distance carriers competing for business in which the consumer greatly benefitted.

After reading the first few pages there's noway I could tolerate 27 pages of this stupidity. WOW

Again, unless you feel an inability to login to TD would hinder your ability to remain alive.
You think you need government guaranteed access to water and power or you cannot remain alive? That's pathetic Humans survived for thousands of years without that. There are countries today that don't have that and their people survive.
It sounds like you're just crying. "oh please make water and power stay the way I want it". Please government protect me!
You can collect rain water, recycle urine, boil river water, build an irrigation system to your property, etc...
Government monopoly Power? Why do you need that? Get solar panels, build a stationary bike system. Buy giant batteries.
I'm sure if you ended the monopoly on power and water eventually private power and water companies would emerge. Would there be some problems in the interim? Sure. But that's a necessity.
The free market would result in a net positive right??
I fully expect you to make a dumbass comment rather than debate your own points by the way.
Because, remember, you posted this:
quote:
Over time, markets are ALWAYS better than the alternative. Period.
So either you're a hypocrite or you agree that we should open water and power to the free market without any oversight or regulation and step back and see what happens. Which is it?

Yeah, here's a good primer for him on the Bell breakup

And this is precisely what happened, and will happen again

But she really passed on because her method of management—the bureaucratic management that is useful for public institutions—is ill-suited for competitive battles. From the sound of their advertising and the restructuring they’re undergoing, AT&T and the new Bell offshoots are becoming more attuned to the demands of the marketplace. They’ll need to become attuned. There are lots of hungry competitors out there who want a piece of the action, and there will be dramatic shootouts in pricing, services and technology.
And this is precisely what happened, and will happen again

It sounds like you're just crying. "oh please make water and power stay the way I want it". Please government protect me!

I fully expect you to make a dumbass comment rather than debate your own points by the way.
Are a shite ton going to die if we can't log in to TD and witness your inability to understand economics?

So either you're a hypocrite or you agree that we should open water and power to the free market without any oversight or regulation and step back and see what happens. Which is it?
Deal?

He wants to think of the farthest out hypothetical he can come up with because he doesn't actually even know why markets work at all.
He's got a 4 year old's understanding of competition.

The other fave of liberals.
"Hey, I found me a regulation you might support(cause we're not anarchists)..........therefore.....MY regulation must be a good idea!!!!"
Dude. You guys act like this internet conversation is new........but people like you existed when the car was invented and buggie makers were in a panic.

What are you talking about? Who's advocating zero Regs?
Now it was deregulated, which led to competition and innovation
It always does, that's basic economics. Where there is profit, there's competition which benefits the consumer in every way.

he's just cycling through liberal claptrap now.
You don't support him, you're an anarchist.
He's basically run out of shite.
I think he got extra agitated once the reality that he didn't give a frick about the monopoly argument he held on to for 15 pages became apparent.

Hi Cathy Newman. My name is ShortyRob. And no, I didn't say that.
I don't know who Cathy Newman is, but yes you did say that. You said that water/power is different because while you could survive without internet you could not survive without those and thus they are incomparable.

Well. I could point out that in those countries you speak of where everyone walks to water, a shite ton die.
Well, yeah. They are dieing for now. There's going to be consequences for deregulation of water. But that just until the free market settles and big businesses get into the water distribution business. Why are you demanding we regulate something that will eventually be solved? There's definitely money to be made there. And the eventual development of thy market is better than your demand for government regulation.

Are a shite ton going to die if we can't log in to TD and witness your inability to understand economics?
We all know the OT is responsible for helping law enforcement identify at least one kidnapper and murder. So yes. Someone might die.

Sure. Remember the guy the OT helped catch? Remember all the people the Outdoor board helped identify and rescue in the floods?
