OP is probably a liar, but if he isn't, the bartender is a prick and should be fired for how he treated what is presumably a paying customer.
Now, as to whether it was reasonable for the bartender to acquiesce to the patron’s request, it's entirely predicated on what else was on, how many other people were in the bar, etc. While that game is a big damned deal, I'm sympathetic to other patrons wanting to watch something more local. But if he was basically the only person in there, or if the TV was just a political ticker or set to Sportscenter highlights, the bartender is an idiot.

Where in the OP was there any indication that request was being shoved down anyone’s throat? A guy asked to watch basically the equivalent of the Super Bowl of soccer matches and a bartender decided to be an arse and tell him to frick off. The only thing shoved down anyone’s throat was a ridiculous bartender bringing his moronic politics to work.

Yeah I agree. I hate progs too but there’s nothing wrong with soccer. It’s a real sport requiring real athleticism, unlike golf.
