But the regulations are the tools by which these large corporations prevent competition. I highly doubt they will ever allow the elimination of this.
The populace BEGS for it..........because they foolishly think they are somehow protecting us FROM big business.
LOL. Nope. They're making matters worse. And, they've been doing it for over 100 years!

hat would mean one must go to the other end of the conveyor and somehow curtail campaign contributions by moving to 100% publicly-funded elections. However, that could quickly be screwed over by Citizens United and the free speech interests of film makers.
Meh. You could largely reduce govt regulations if the average Joe would just stop stupidly asking for them!
Sure. Businesses want them but it's the populace who pushes for them and literally LOVES a politician who gives them to us!

It's the only way to "drain the swamp."
Or course, it's even worse when lobbyist and former lobbyist write the regulations of various agencies. (Common occurrence with GOP administrations.)
Lobbying is bribery when money exchanges hands. Both parties should be ashamed.,

Freedom.
This issue, like almost all others, derives from a too-powerful federal government. If the federal government has the ability to significantly confiscate and/or regulate my private assets, then why should I be prohibited from using said assets to limit that confiscation/regulation?

Well I have always been for deregulation. But as I previously said, this is their main tool to prevent competition. I highly doubt they will give this up.

Yep, a catch 22 if there ever was one.

So you believe Hillary Clinton should be able to censor movies that picture her in an unflattering light prior to an election?
Does Trump have that same right? Can he use the FEC to censor negative portrayals of himself?

Isn’t that what the government always does? They produce fear in the hearts of its citizens, and once there is enough fear conjured up the government is free to “help” the citizens feel safer. In reality, however, the government has made the entire situation worse. Take for example the patriot act....

It is simple...because the lobbyists and the lobbied benefit immensely from the practice. Public campaign finance is the answer....damn a bunch of free speech in the form of money...if you want to exercise your free speech do it publicly in the form of advertisements not by giving plane rides and jobs and super bowl tickets...
