There are applications where LEOs need such equipment, but like most things involving government, they wind up being abused.

On the first view it appears to be extreme overkill.

The leo agencies probably used this as a training exercise and also to send a message.

My problems with this is that it could have ended in a horrible situation in a residential area where many innocent people could have been killed in a shootout, also how many of us want a SWAT team in our neighbor hoods.?

Smart money would have arrested this young businessman out some where in public like at parking lot at a local 7/11 by 3 or 4 really good cops.
