Can't it be both? Why is it either or.

Change the sentence to weekends, fine and other community service in the interest of justice, but he should not escape punishment for an offense because of oversight in the system.

Absolutely. Fine with me. Give him a sentence that the state believes equates to 2 years in prison, but respects the life that he has built since his offense.

To make him serve two years in prison at this point is a harsher punishment than when it was originally imposed. Any reasonable person can agree with that. That is not "justice."
