We are already starting to get it, but this has to impact in mass closures of nearly everything doesn't it?

There simply won't be the necessary staff to keep most businesses open with no childcare options. This is going to be interesting going forward

Are day care centers closing? I was wondering about that.

With schools doing it I only see it as the next logical progression. I can't imagine them remaining open

Our area daycares haven’t announced closures.

Could have an overall negative impact with healthcare professionals having to stay home with kids.

My daycare follows what the public schools here do. So they've been shut down over a week now.

My daycare is expecting to close if the public schools here close but my wife and I got a huge relief when my company said they don’t expect us to find alternate childcare if that happens so they understand if our kids are at home with us while we work remote. Hopefully other businesses would adopt a similar philosophy.

Our daycare is open and offered to take care of our other child as well. They will tighten their stance on cough, runny nose, etc., but will remain open until ordered to close.

Sigh of relief so far.

Around me it appears those that are tied to a school are closing. Those that stand alone are remaining open.

I'm also hearing some of the teachers from the ones that are closing are offering help to some parents

I think some that initially intend to remain open are going to start seeing staffing issues. A lot of daycare workers have kids in school, so you’re going to have absenteeism amongst the staff.

It puts working parents in such a difficult position. As is often the case, when schools are out or kids are sick, parents call on the grandparents for help. But in this situation, grandparents (well, those over 60) are in the higher risk category and should be doing whatever they can to stay away from people/germs.

LSU closed their daycare. That didn’t bother anyone. On the other hand, not waiving tuition brought out the pitchforks on Facebook.

My local daycare that my son goes to is staying open and has said teachers' kids can stay home without having to pay to open up spots for other working parents.

My kids daycare said they will remain open but charge an additional $50/week. I told them to to shove it and will figure out what to do for the next 4 weeks
