They won't. They don't have the military power to back it up and no one would come to their defense.
If this rouge ship starts shooting, they will get taken down by the Russians with a swift retaliation and could spun Russia to start an offensive but I doubt that happens either.
The most likely thing is Russia decides to push further into western Ukraine on a "peacekeeping" mission. What they encounter there would be telling. If Ukraine fights back to protect its interests, it could be a blood bath.

This is more what I was getting at. Opposing militaries in close proximity with high tensions. Someone gets antsy and pulls the trigger and the situation snowballs.

If Ukraine fights back and Russia goes all out on them the Poles get even more anxious when Russia takes Kiev.
