NEW YORK -- After meeting with owners and players Tuesday concerning social issues, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league did not ask for any changes to the policy on the national anthem.

"We did not ask for it," Goodell said. "We spent today talking about the issues players are trying to bring attention to. Issues in our communities, to make our communities better."

The NFL has decided that it will not force players to stand for the playing of our National Anthem. Total disrespect for our great country!

These are the most idiotic type of responses. No one is saying or implying that Trump is going to be impeached or leave office because of this or even when he does something stupid.

It don't matter what the Players and NFL says or does now; anything less than overt disavowal for BLM/Antifa will be construed a self-serving...and essentially...anti-American. The Players are dirty...and everybody knows their true feelings now. How can that be 'fixed'?

Likely so...but they damn sure won't be the only dance in town...once they lose Taxpayer money and Anti-trust protection.

That policy states that the players "should" stand for the anthem, and some have suggested the league would seek to change that to "must" stand. Goodell said in a memo to teams last week that the NFL prefers for players to stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Why even word a policy like this if," should" doesn't mean," must?"
Why have a policy at all?

Would this be the same Roger Goodell that couldn't even get his stories straight regarding Bountygate and Deflategate? Who claims to be concerned for "player safety" while scheduling Thursday Night games 4 days after Sunday games?

Yeah, I'm taking anything that he says or does seriously.

Goodell is so weak.

Amazing how every fall I get behind on completing home projects, yet this year I'm more productive than ever.

Well I hope they got to talk about the "systemic oppression" that plagues todays african american individuals... I mean that's why the douche SF 49rs player ( Reid-LSU) said he kneels. I mean, you know...oppression and stuff.

In fairness he's in a tough position; being the head baby sitter for a bunch of whiney arse millionaires with a faux social justice narrative isn't a winnable position to be in.
