He lost because he took a harder line on day 1 with an administration that would have worked with him but required some give and take.

He decided NOPE - I get everything I ask for our I walk.

Now, he never got the time of day from the Dems. They walked all over him and he wrote scathing letters. He never took any real action on anything regarding the Left besides failed legislation.

However, the right, who would support most of what he proposed he went scorched earth revealing that he was really a "lot of talk" fraud.

He was good at coming in second in his fights.
