Democrats are on record voting for illegals getting benefits.

If played right this could be a huge negative for them. Tell me what Dems sided with the Republicans and I am betting it is swing state senators with slim margins. The 60 vote threshold to pass gave those Dems the cover they needed to vote for the bill.

You know what really chaffs my arse? If you ask Google, ChatGPT, etc.. if illegals get Medicaid the answer is "NO". fine print: *except for illegal children and most states which provide acute care such as emergency services, dialysis, etc..to anyone regardless of status. No routine care is covered. In other words, they cover all the expensive stuff but not the routine check ups. Got it. You have to specifically ask how much Medicaid distributes to illegals and it will state roughly $4B/year with the caveat that "Illegals aren't covered under Medicaid".

Thats a lot of NON coverage.

I do not think this bill will pass, IMO....and shite will hit the fan!

I cant stand these large bills.....nothing but buried negotiations that the public does not know until AFTER the bill is signed.

100% horseshite!

I support DJT, but this big arse bill may backfire. I'm worried.

The Parliamentarian (fyi, a Democrat) determined it needed 60 votes. Under the Harry Reid rule, it wouldve needed just 50 with Vance as tie breaker
In 2017, both the Republican and Democratic parties officially supported maintaining the 60-vote threshold for Senate legislation. This was demonstrated by a bipartisan letter led by Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Chris Coons (D-DE), signed by 61 senators from both parties, urging Senate leadership to preserve the 60-vote rule for legislation. Senate leaders Mitch McConnell (R) and Chuck Schumer (D) also publicly agreed on keeping the legislative filibuster in place.

As a reconciliation bill, the BBB can pass with a simple majority (51 votes),
bypassing the usual 60-vote threshold required to overcome a filibuster. But if any provisions in the bill violate the Senate's Byrd Rule (which limits what can be included in reconciliation bills), those specific provisions would require 60 votes to remain in the bill

They need to target every illegal that makes a claim on Medicaid and deport them.
