One Dem is "donating hers to charity."
Wonder if it's to her own "foundation."
If EVERY GOP member came out and announced this, the optics couldn't be worse for Dems.

Several lawmakers are refusing to accept their paychecks amid the partial government shutdown. Republican Reps. Barbara Comstock of Virginia and Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington both wrote the the chief administration officer of the House, asking he withhold their respective salaries until the shutdown ends. “I have been informed that despite a lapse of appropriations and current government shutdown, under law, Members of Congress would continue to receive their salary,” Comstock wrote to Phil Kiko. “Since I do not agree with that policy, please withhold my pay until an appropriate agreement has taken place.”

Rep. John Katko, R-N.Y., also said he would reject his paychecks "until the government re-opens and all of our nation’s defense personnel are paid."

They are getting paid more than enough by the lobbyists.
Plus , I’m pretty sure most have direct deposit and they don’t cash actual checks

They shouldn't be paid anyway

So you'd be ok with doing away with all PAC and special interest money?

I don't think they have the ability to stop having pay deposited. It's a hollow gesture. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I don't believe the pay system can work that way.

You can set up a temporary allotment.

I'd love to see someone try to talk John Lewis into not taking a paycheck

Good gesture and a good move in the political chess match, but i can’t imagine a member of Congress living pay check to paycheck. They’d just get the backpay with their next deposit / check anyway

The Mississippi Senators and Reps are all cashing their checks - $14,600 per month.
