When Pilate gave the crowd the choice of who to release they chose Barabbas rather than Jesus. Pilate said then he was not responsible and the blood of Jesus was on their hands. That verse was the crowds response. The crowd weren’t Romans.
This Easter was the first time I really picked up on the “…and our children” piece of the verse.
Not saying I believe the Jews as a whole should be hated by Christians…but that’s a pretty damning statement as it’s written.
