Probly a little truth in that scenario

Amazing how unfavorably taken my posts are for being honest about what is going on. I think there is something to the fact that white South Africans did not like USAID for things they did before and during the end of the Apartheid regime. Probably no accident that a deputized South African immigrant to the US took aim at it before arguably more germane areas of the government that Americans actually care about in their day to day lives. Not saying that USAID is not partly a front for things like the CIA, etc. because it totally is that but I got to think that of all the conservative hobby horses out there this one was not very high on many regular conservative's radar. It has become the cause celebre because the hype machine is pushing it. I tend to think most conservatives would have rather seen this interest immediately directed towards the more domestic facing departments/agencies to be quite honest.

This is why I imagine that USAID is going nowhere in part: there are simply more important things to Trump out there. This seems like an indulgence to his big donor as much as anything. Additionally, the appropriations directed to USAID already exist and they're going to spend that money through it somehow. So even if it is a shadow of its former self w/r/t autonomy from the executive, it will likely stay on the books in some threadbare state.
