The UK is a totalitarian state which only pretends to be a representative democracy via establishment controlled parties.
The population lacks any pretense at freedom. If you’re not allowed to own weapons, not allowed to speak freely, not allowed to protect your family, not protected by the government and not allowed to truly influence government policy you’re just a serf regardless of what you think your station in life is.

I believe the only thing holding things together is the lack of a major economic downturn and the belief on the part of the conservative right that Trump is eventually going to fix some of this.
If he leaves office and nothings changed I think many will no longer believe reform of the system is possible from within and all it would take is a trigger to destabilize the status quo which could be anything from 401k "taxes" to loss of the petro dollar or the destabilization of the US labor market due to AI without alternative paths to prosperity in place.
