Cuban made his billions off Yahoo. I do not know what the terms of that yahoo deal was but my guess is that Cuban is owned by yahoo. Yahoo then entered an agreement with ABC and my suspicion is that the contract Cuban signed extends to ABC.
Per his contract with yahoo, he sold his life and now he is contractually obligated to the whims of ABC. However high ABC says jump, Cuban must jump or be in breach of his contract for billions. This is why you see Cuban promoted so much on ABC and Yahoo. It's not because he is smart, it's because he is literally a tool.

I remember 4 years ago this guy rightly railed on Elizabeth Warren in the Democrat Primary when she brought up taxing unrealized gains. Anyone with a functioning brain can understand that is probably the most terrible idea in the history of ideas. I get that there must be something that happened between him and Trump ,but no one with the amount of stocks he owns should ever endorse this woman. Even though it is slim to none that she can accomplish getting a tax on unrealized gains, he would put his a good portion of his wealth at risk voting for this woman. Trump must have really done something to him (probably something he is invested in heavily into something that a Trump policy really hurt) ,but the man is an idiot. He is trying push a weak candidate and is looking like an idiot doing it.
