How early can down syndrome be detected?

Fairly early. New tests are being produced all the time but one off the top of my head is reduced maternal serum Alpha fetoprotein levels which is a sign of DS and there is a new one that can be done in the first trimester that screens the mothers blood for fetal DNA and tests that for Trisomy 21. Its combined with an ultrasound but idk its sensitivity/specificity

On the record it is genetic, right?

Last I read (and not like it was a super scientific article so take it with a grain) the consensus was it is an epigenetic thing. Not necessarily genetic as in what your genome directly says but more which genes of yours that are expressed and in what amounts.

ie. Identical twins with 100% identical genomes can differ in their sexuality for example due to which genes are "turned on/off". This can occur due to a number of different reasons i am not uptodate enough to go into.

It has been predicted by commentators that this would happen, especially if a "Gay Gene" could be found to indicate that your fetus will be Gay.

If a Gay Gene is found, Der Staat will make it illegal to abort your Gay Baby.
