You seem to have been in every thread on the subject. But that's totally different, I'm sure.

Beachreb61--You might be wrong, and I don't care, I was neutral and it's private how I voted. When I voted I saw several Blacks voting in the run-off that had to sign a form to vote. They did not vote GOP in the primary, they were not on their list, but the poll worker asked them to sign a form to let them vote. They got loud and insisted on voting. I saw them. As I went out, 2 vans pulled up full of Black teachers. I heard one of them say,"I'm glad school's closed for the summer so we can do this". A well dressed man had a list checking off their names as they went in. I asked them'close election isn't it" . One lady said yes,McDaniel will cut Education 800 million dollars". So they were all for Cochran. They were not on the primary list to check off,but voted in the run-off for Cockran. The vans were either Headstart or pre-school.

Every Republican (and I am one)should be embarrassed by the method used by Cochran to win the election.

You mean like promising something that he can't deliver or accusing his opponent of something that can't happen? That's the first time that has ever happened in politics.

Exactly. Cochran has asked for the slow down.

Dirty as can be. Would have never thought Thad to be like this. From this point, all of those who helped him will never get my vote. I will actively campaign against them.

Tipelo. I apologized to you earlier and chased you around trying to do it. Anyway I will go find it and make sure you see it.

I jumped the shark. I assumed that you were lying because of the union and bus references. For all of our differences, I still apologize.

Here was my original response after yours:

Apologies Tupelo. I've heard many on these type of fabrications during politics and I was too quick to assume that you were fabricating one. I was quick to the trigger when I spotted a couple of inaccuracies and made the classic assume mistake. Sincere apologies. ..." End of original response.

New question:

Or are we supporting Childers?

Wouldn't that be ironic? I have heard many angry tea party folks say they would support and vote for Childers after what Cochran did in the runoff. Isn't that what he is basing part of his challenge on; voting in the Republican runoff but voting Democrat in November?

So you support not being able to vote in the general election unless to vote for your declared party?

Eta. Not you diamond. Just a general question.

I am perfectly fine with the vote a certain party in the primary, you can't go opposite in the runoff hoping to flip the vote. If you like the November candidate better than the candidate you voted for in the primary or runoff, you should be able to vote for whomever.

Thanks BeachReb61, politics is something else. Thanks for your reply. I really don't know what to do in the general. My wife's entire family might not even vote. We know Childers. He lives 30 miles from us and when he was in Congress, he tried to do a good job. His only problem was Roger Wicker and Alan Nunnelee both live in Tupelo and they took out Childers 2 years ago. This fall will be interesting. Everyone is disgusted right now, it'll take time for it all to pass. McDaniel has not handled it right. Cochran has really hurt himself. The talk of serving only 2 more years in a deal with Barbour also has leaked out. So, we'll see.

Cochran's absolute best friend in the world told him not to run. The machine convinced him to do so. He won't finish his term but the Governor gets to appoint his replacement. Don't really know McDaniel's stand with Bryant but this stuff he is doing won't get him very close to Washington.

How many heavily-black precincts are there Mississippi? 25 here, 18 there, and soon enough you have the margin of victory.

Problem is, whatever the number if errors or crossovers made, was it enough to sway the election? Voter intent is a tough thing to prove in court, as Al Gore found out. :Shrugs:

It would seem to me that voter intent is not the point. If the amount of illegal crossover votes exceeds the margin of victory, that's a problem in and of itself. If I were a judge, no matter if the illegal votes favored Cochran or McDaniel, I would call a re-vote if I thought I could, on the basis of voter fraud.

You're fricking delusional if you think he would, were he elected.

The problem with the bitching about government spending is very rarely do voters actually want spending cut on shite they care about. If McDaniel were to actually threaten infrastructure projects, military bases, etc., then he'd be fricking crucified back home by his constituents.

And, anyway, the pork barrel discretionary spending is but a small fraction of the federal budget. I find it funny that people bemoan pork as being the cause of our deficit when the numbers certainly suggest otherwise.

Dude, McDaniel's people broke into a fricking nursing home to take photos of Cochran's bedridden wife. Y'all don't get to fricking call ANYBODY dirty if you're associated with that monstrosity of a campaign.

On local levels, people have been doing this forever. Ask your parents how many democrats they voted for in primaries for things like County Sheriff or Judges. I know plenty of Rs and Ds who have voted in other primaries in local elections in Mississippi for a long, long time. It's really not that unusual.

Now, actively getting out the vote to do so is definitely unusual, but it's not illegal. It was a roll of the dice that paid off for Cochran.

McDaniel needs to shut the frick up. He was a horrible tea party candidate despite my utter disdain for Thad and his big gov't bullshite. I like McDaniel's ideas but his problem is that he has no idea how to govern as a true believer. He's like an even worse version of Sean Hannity.
