Back in the day when I was in the Corps, it was “light green and dark green”, just as long as it was Marine Green. This country is so phuccckkked!
Also the good General could have just shut the music down, and stated he does not tolerate the use of said word in question at his command under any circumstances. Damn, it was unit PT. Whatever happened to singing “cadence”??????
How is that for PC?

Is the General white or black? I assume nothing in this clown world culture.
Whatever the case, this sounds like yet another case of an absurd miscarriage of justice in the name of justice. IMO, generational indoctrination about racial grievances in government schools has destroyed yet another amazing merit-based and color-blind organization.
When I served in the Marine Corps in the 1980s, we were taught that there were two colors in the Marine Corps: light green and dark green. During my stint in the Marine Corps, I truly accepted that maxim as an article of faith.
My grandfather was a WWII Marine Corps Veteran and my father was a Korean War Vet. Yet I will do everything in my power to dissuade my teenage son from considering a military career.

Beat me to it. But yeah.
I distinctly remember one salty arse dark-green Master Sgt. telling some light green Marines to turn that “n***** shite” off while in the barracks. This was back in the era when “gangsta rap” acts like NWA were first becoming mainstream.
It created a damn laugh riot, most especially from the Marines listening to the boom box. I’m sure that MSgt. would be drummed out of the Marine Corps today.

You were an 80s Marine, just like me. Parris Island I had 3 Dark Green DIs. 2 were Vietnam Vets, the 3rd missed Vietnam but was wounded in the Mayaguez incident, he was mean as a pissed off Cobra. I was College Boy, he would frick with me for no particular reason.!
now, but not then. Semper Fi!

Should ALL marines who use that word be relieved of duty?

The services have changed a lot. The people that make rank, are people like Perfect Peter Pace.
Pace was chastised for his conservatism as I recall.
