This would be totally inappropriate but there is nothing leading me to believe this is what happened. All we have is an edited video and one side of the story. Perhaps the police tried to restrain the gentleman's wife and he became combative. The simple truth is that we just don't know but many here are anxious to jump to conclusions.

Legally you can.

I just hate seeing innocent people beaten or murdered, wrong houses busted in, women and children intimidated, and average people belittled and scoffed at just because cops may happen to deal with criminals every now and again. There are a lot of us normal, innocent citizens who would like to just be left to live our lives without interference from you.

Set up a society where there are no cops to protect you and see if you are left to live your life without interference from vicious criminals.

Grow up and realize that the world isn't perfect and sometimes innocent people are hurt when the police are trying to do their duty. It doesn't mean you have to like it but it does mean you have to accept it.

I think his issue and mine is the fact that when an officer commits a crime while in uniform they are protected by the "thin blue line" Why should they not have to face the same penalties just because they are in uniform? I am a CPA, if one of my client calls me a dumbass and disrespects me, and i beat the hell out of them, will people simply say if the client was respectful it never would have happened. Hell no they wont, i will be prosecuted fully. It should be no different for an officer

Provide the link that says you can.

Even if that is the case, you are stupid if you do. The cops don't know who you are and will think you are running away for a reason like you committed a crime you are wanted for.

Even if you are innocent, you should never run away from the police when they are questioning you. It's just common sense.

Not in the course of a criminal investigation. You can be detained, and arrested for obstruction.

I agree. But it is ridiculous that this man ended up dead when he had not committed a single crime. Go read my post above to see my full opinion

That is simply not the truth. Officers do stick up for one another but rarely are they willing to face prison time for a cover up. Look at the trials in New Orleans from Katrina.

Yes in this case you are correct. However, if a cop asks for my ID on the street just to get some info, i can run like Forrest if I want to correct?

You can run but that would certainly raise RS for him to detain you.

If you feel that officers get prosecuted equally as normal citizens I have to say I 110% disagree. I dont think that could be further from the truth

Yes. However, if a crime just went down, it wouldn't be advisable.

That just seems like a police state to me. I am completely innocent, doing nothing wrong, an officer asks for my ID and i run and now i can be arrested? Just doesnt jive with the American in me at all

I agree with you. I believe officers haave a much harder time in most courtrooms thn the average citizen does.

Maybe in the old days when a cop actually committed a crime they would be protected by the "thin blue line" but not any more. Video cameras have now changed everything. It has not yet been determined if the cops committed a crime in this case and from the facts I saw and read I don't think they did.

Well we will just have to agree to disagree.

Well, i disagree. 5 armed men contributed to the death of an unarmed man. That seems like manslaughter or at least gross negligence to me. And before you ask, i don't care if the man was being combative or aggressive.

Grow the frick up. If you are innocent and arrested you cooperate with the police and go through the courts to clear your name. I've had to do it. Otherwise, you are asking for trouble.

You should be released quickly after being detained. If you take away the ability of the police to act on RS you would be very sorry. If a man is walking around in a nice neighborhood late at night and an officer asks who he is and he immediately sprints away wouldn't you say this would be suspicious behavior? Perhaps he is casing houses in your neighborhood or has already commited a burglary.

This is absolute BS and the worst mindset i have ever heard in my entire life. So we should just bend over and take it while big brother does what he wants? It is sickening. Obviously i have common sense so i would never run, but it is disgraceful that you are ok with it
