Neither did Russia.
Yet here we are. Jesus find something new to melt over other than this un winnable war you Dems cling to. Ukraine was never going to win period is was a joke to think they ever had a chance unless America and NATO put boots on the ground which was NEVER going to happen.

I doubt Putin feels like a winner. His country has been wounded so badly it will take, at best, a generation to recover. And for what? Their economy is in shambles; their military has been exposed as second rate; and they have lost a significant number of their young men. This last is especially impactful in a country with plummeting birth rates. This has been devastating to Russia and the Russian people. It might spell the demographic end for them. That’s victory? That’s the kind of victory Napoleon had when he conquered Moscow; a pyrrhic victory that spelled his doom.
Putin probably thinks that it is worth it to push back against NATO/DAVOS.
Now, the russians have a little more breathing room, and a more battle hardened army.
And the DAVOSIAN plans for conquest against Russia have been neautralized. DAVOS can't afford it any more.

I’m not clinging to it. I don’t like the war. It’s just that I don’t marshal facts to support my narratives; I adjust my narratives to match the facts.
I’m of two minds on this war. I’d like Ukraine to be successful in defense. The Russo-philes simply don’t understand the region and the extent to which Russia is trying to dominate, and re-conquer, its neighbors. Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, The Baltic States, and even Finland and Poland have concerns about Russian imperialism. There have been three recent invasions, by Russia, of those countries.
On the other hand, I believe that Russia has legitimate concerns over the nation-building of the US, NATO and the NWO types - a nation-building that I have come to abhor. I would like to see that coalition get a black eye. A complete Russian collapse would be bad in that sense.
If Trump had not exposed, and gutted, USAID I would be rooting for Russia. If I thought Trump’s gutting of USAID was the death of it I would be rooting for Ukraine. As it is, I’m torn. I’d like to see Russia get out of this as painlessly as possible; and I’d like to see Ukraine retain most of its territory (aside from Crimea, which should not have been part of Ukraine).

Both NATO and Russia has bloodied themselves enough that neither is the threat that they once were. Militarily or Economically.
I have hopes that with the US focusing inwards that will allow time for Europe to adjust its priorities. From expansion to just trying to hold itself together.
The EU may very well die in the next couple of years.
They still need the raw goods (fossil fuels) from Russia. And now, they are not going to be able to take loans out to cover their debts based upon Russia's resources. (the DAVOS / Bank of London plan)
The natives in the EU have has enough migration. Gov'ts are getting pushback from the people. But the natives are outnumbered by enough migrants that it is going to get a lot uglier than anyone realizes.
I believe that the remaining years of this Forth Turning are going to be bad. They always are. But they will be worse in Europe than here in the States. Trump does want to stay allies, he just doesn't want the US taxpayers continuing to be abused by Europe because the US has a "limitless" credit card.
