you quoted me
then said
but no one was penalized by the government. it insinuates someone WAS penalized by the US government. so again your whole argument in a thread about alex jones being sued was for nothing.

free speech doesn't mean free from consequences of said speech
then said

If you can be penalized by the governemt for speaking, you don't have free speech.

Pass.

Everybody arguing with you right now clearly means "absolute" = without limits & not absolute = has limits.
That's fine. I'd rather focus on what the Constitution means.
quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
quote:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The government includes the judiciary.

Cool cool, then why don't you go somewhere and talk about that with someone who's actually talking about that? This is about defamation as it pertains to Alex Jones.
I get that you've posted here 75k times but there's gotta be something more satisfying in your life than yelling at clouds.

I am. I didn't ask you to participate and I'm not keeping you in the discussion.

The government includes the judiciary.
defamation of character is not covered under the 1st amendment.
i don't know how else to spell it out that you're just incorrect on this topic.
Defamation is not protected under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. While freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it's not an absolute right. Defamation, which includes libel (written defamation) and slander (spoken defamation), involves making false statements that harm someone's reputation. Such statements are not protected speech because they can cause real harm to individuals or businesses. However, there are complexities and nuances in how defamation laws are applied, including considerations of public figures versus private individuals and the standard of proof required.

School shootings don’t bother you? The media manipulating the truth and harassing victims of school shootings don’t bother you? Very telling that some of you are more concerned with how much Alex Jones was fined than what Alex Jones did.
Serious question, did he shoot them?

3 pages of comments says otherwise. You're talking to yourself about something nobody else is talking about.

You don't think the government includes the judiciary?
Now that's interesting. Please, do expand on that.

They don't. You attempting to have a different conversation is irrelevant.

You mean the thread about "looking back at the Alex Jones trial?"
Who here (besides yourself) is talking about what you're talking about? Are they in the room with you right now?

Serious question, have you ever read about the actual case?

i checked and i can't believe it is in fact one of 3 branches of the government!
and i love how you ignored my entire post about you still being wrong!

No.
I mean the discussion surrounding my point three pages ago. Again, I'm not keeping you in the discussion.

I didn't ignore it. I just wasn't wrong. You were. Again.

lets go over this again...
3 pages ago i posted "free speech doesn't mean free from consequences of said speech"
and you posted "If you can be penalized by the governemt for speaking, you don't have free speech."
which had absolutely nothing to do with Alex Jones' trail.

Serious question, did he shoot them?
Serious question, did he and his fan base spend years harassing them? Did Alex Jones make money by making up a lie making these people's lives a living hell so he could stay in the spotlight and continue to make money?
Serious question - Why so quick to attack the settlement but so slow to say anything negative about him? Do you really think the settlement was worse than what Alex Jones did?

still crickets from DisplacedBuckeye...prove me wrong about what you said responding to my original post.

Let's go over it as many times as we need to so you'll get it.

3 pages ago i posted "free speech doesn't mean free from consequences of said speech"
and you posted "If you can be penalized by the governemt for speaking, you don't have free speech."
Correct.
quote:

Incorrect.
As you now know, the judiciary is included in the government.
