I love how the writer had "designated" that this started in the 60s, many cultures for hundreds of years have differentiated by skin color.

And the description of a person while avoiding their skin color is a westernized thing. Here in Trinidad its part of the description, people are white, Portuguese, Spaniard (which is actually Venezuelan),Indian (East Indian), Carib, Red, Douglar, African light or dark skinned, chini, etc.

During WW2 there were over 100,000 American GIs stationed here, they caught one sub, it actually beached itself, when they searched the sailors a couple of them had ticket stubs from the local theatre. So 100,000 young men, with nothing to do......yeah Trinidad has a legacy of quite the melting pot
