We all know the flight we hear about from companies, people, and cows leaving California. Thomas Sowell had an article in today's paper about the cost of housing in areas like Palo Alto and San Francisco (two hot beds of Liberalism policies of protecting "open space" land that prohibits building new housing.
Examples: Palo Alto (a community adjacent to Stanford Unif.) where a 1010 ft bungalow with 2 bedrooms & 1 bath was listed for $1,498,000. Another 1292 sq ft house listed for 1.3 mil.and bidders drove the price up to 1.7 mil.
Hell, another 1292 sq ft home is listed for 2.3mil.and vacant lots go for what spacious middle class homes sell for in other parts of the country.
Don't even start on taxes & other liberal policies that drive their agenda's...they know what's best for everyone!

They should build a section 8 complex in Palo Alto and transplant some good folks from Oakland there. Diversification and shite you know...

Well, there is a reason CA accounts for 20+% of the nation's homeless population. The hotbeds of the Democratic Party price those of lower income out of the market. The same goes for New York.
Between 2012-2013, New York's homeless pop increased by nearly 8000, while CA's increased by nearly 6000.

There are old antebellum cotton plantation mansions here in the delta that are 10000 sq ft easily and sell for around 600k

We're seeing this here. Left leaning town, high property values and when the city opens new land for new development, folks are wanting to be compensated for lost property value, even if it probably will not happen.
