Agreed. Seems really odd but in Illinois lying to the police falls under disorderly conduct. He may be charged with felonies though. Seems like they wouldn’t go back through all of this trouble for a slap on the wrist.

I may be completely wrong but don't grand jury's only hear felony charges? I've never heard of the grand jury handing down an indictment for a shoplifter or 1st offense DWI.
