Except you’re wrong. One thing the Democratic Party loved then and still loves today is slavery. They just figured out how to get people to willingly put the chains on. The Democratic Party slaves can’t seem to be bothered to actually think about anything, if they can’t parrot the line they’ve been told to think they get violent because it appears actual thought causes them to panic.

Clearly you’ve never had to deal with any of those “merit-based” government servants. There isn’t a member of Congress alive who doesn’t get wealthy after a few terms in office. They aren’t getting that way because of “smart investing”
