I actually have very similar viewpoints as to what you outlined below. After having lived on this earth for 35 years now what I'd like to call us is (A) the majority and (B) independents.
I don't need dumpsterfricks in D.C. or on this message board or anyone else to label me 1 thing or another. I think for myself based on the topic, situation, war, etc at hand.

In fact, I find anybody that just goes with the (R) or (D) talking points to be nothing but little frickboi's who don't get out much.

I'm curious. Since you have been on this board for a whopping 48 hours, how would you know the belief systems held by the fringes on this board?
I'd be interested in the response to this question as well.

As far as the list of beliefs are concerned, they are very similar to my own, except the public hangings. I'd also add getting government completely out of the marriage business altogether, and completely replace the Federal income tax with a VAT on all non-essential purchases.

Other than that those positions seem fairly mainstream to me. I'm sure at least a plurality of adult US citizens could live with that list.

By the government? No.

I feel an obligation to give to my church and charities but I don't believe it's right for me to force others to share my beliefs.

Conflicted? Try as I might, I could see no coherent philosophical underpinning to that hodgepodge of beliefs. It seems like 'moderate' might be the closest I can come to an orthodox label, but even that doesn't seem right.

I might add confused, but I agree with your post.

So I would label this individual as a conservative with libertarian leanings.

Sometimes I think libertarians are Progs who are back on the path towards sanity.
