Even if Democrats win every single 2018 House and Senate race for seats representing places that Hillary Clinton won or that Trump won by less than three percentage points, they would still fall short of the House majority and lose 5 Senate seats.

We'll get an early Senate R seat as I predict Trump will move Perry to DHS and nominate WV Democrat Senator Joe Manchin for Perry's spot, Secretary of Energy. The new WV Republican governor will then appoint a new Republican senator to fill Manchin's spot.

The catch-22 with that is Republicans have shown to be pretty incompetent so far with the amount of representation they now have. It's not just about getting your party those seats, it's about implementing policies that reinforce the values and promises which got them there in the first place.

The problem is that if the Senate and House don't get off their butts and pass some legislation on the Trump agenda, they will lose more seats than expected.

There is no doubt that democrats gain seats in 2018 in the house. Senate is harder to predict, but it is a tough road for them.

It comes down to the thing it comes down in every election - turnout. If democrats turn out in 2018 like they did in 2006/08, then they will run the table and likely pick up both houses. If they don't, then it will be a bit more of a push.

The republicans have to get tax reform done to keep their base engaged.

Ok. You had all the publicity, money, MSM, and Democratic support for G6 election, still failed miserably. There is a huge doubt.

Not saying you're wrong, but what are you basing that on?

Did they conduct exit polls of why they voted R? "Yea baw, 'dem democrats keep callin' me racciss!"

If all elections see a swing like GA6, then the republicans are fricking toast. They gained +12% on the 2016 house race. If that holds, then they will gain like 50 seats in the house.

I doubt it will, but they will probably pick up at least 15 seats in 2018.

Are you forgetting how much money that loss cost the Democratic Party?

It isn't hope. They will pick up seats, just how many is the question.

Oh, and the correct comparison is comparing it to previous house votes, where they netted 12% increase.

Are you serious? Money won't be a problem in 2018. And the race was basically nothing.
