I despise politics, and if forced would describe my political leanings as simple as “leave me alone”. I believe in personal freedom, free markets, and all that entails, as long as it doesn’t infringe on others. However, one thing that troubles me is the ability of private companies, purveyor’s of information...Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.. to so easily silence, blackball, or severely cripple information & ideas to be disseminated. It’s frightening the amount of power & control they have.

The thing that seems to be missing from this thread is exactly what it is that Infowars represents. This isn't someone like Ben Shapiro or even Sean Hannity being banned. This is a site which actively encourages violence, civil war, promotes conspiracies, and just recently threatened to kill Robert Mueller. Those things are just "politics"....it's plain INCITEMENT>

Why in the hell would these companies be considered "stifling speech" when the fact is that they want no part of the inevitable violence that occurs as a result of Infowar's disinformation. Hell, it's already nearly happened once when that dipshit Jones' follower stormed into the pizza place because he believed in the whole Pizzagate conspiracy (nearly 100% made up by Alex Jones). Parents of dead Sandy Hook kids, to this day, receive death threats from Jones' followers who think the whole thing was a false flag to outlaw guns and believe these parents are just actors.

And y'all try to make this fricking political?!? This ain't about politics, folks.

Come on...The baker isn't one of a few bake shops where you can get a cake. Being banned from two of the biggest platforms to share information is like being banned from 95% of all bake shops. It's not a fair comparison.

Anybody is free to open their own bake shop.

Anybody is free to start their own web-accessible video repository.

This sounds like a business opportunity for some entrepreneur.

When you repeatedly violate terms and conditions by posting fake and false stories intended to mislead the public this is what you get.

If they start banning things willy nilly, probably so, but I'm pretty sure Info Wars won't be the undoing of either platform.

So did Jones get banned for triggering snowflakes or did he actually violate their rules like all the liberals do?

Thankfully your stupid arse was able to use "too" in the proper form.

Other than that, you're an idiot.

Wrong. FB and YouTube own the platforms and can do what they wish. Another case of conservatives crying about How companies run their businesses

He got banned because YT doesn't want to be sued after a Jones viewer kills 7 people because they believed his bullshite.

terms of service are generally written pretty broadly so that companies have latitude.

Youtube has a documented process, and rules. Certainly more robust than what facebook offers, although Youtube has a heavy hand in terms of banning channels, namely due to porn.

CNN and huffpo got banned?

I'm confused.

I thought we were all raising hell because they're "stifling free speech," but replies like this make it seem like we're fine with it if they do it to CNN or Huffpo.

Let me be clear, I know many of the lefties here are hypocritical and are only happy because this is one sided, but I'd like to think we can be consistent with our reasoning.

The baker discriminated based on the fact that the buyers were gay. Which is against the law. Alex Jones being an alt right loon has nothing to do with him getting banned. Him violating their T&C repeatedly is what got him banned. Two different cases

I am strictly responding to the poster that said that. I never said they needed to be banned too, I am pointing out their hypocrisy.

Ya might want to rethink that congressional oversight thing, too.

I'm not for the government dictating business. But, when you start taking big brother money. Get prepared to have big brother up your arse.

This is what they just did.

Alex Jones and friends are loony and borderline conspiracy theorists, but to say that their productions are hate speech is an outright falsity.
