Probably true, but if this drags out it could be very costly. The economy is humming so they don’t have much there to run on.

But if this costs trillions of dollars and hundreds/thousands of US lives, that’s a super easy message for Dems to rally behind. Every eligible voter remembers the Iraq & Afghanistan fiascos. Nobody wants to be fighting and it’s easy to blame Trump for this.

Whether he should or shouldn’t be, doesn’t matter. It’s what the opposition party would do, given the circumstances.
