re: If Mark Levin was 10 or 15 years younger would you back him for SCOTUS?

He's either "vague" on Article II section I, clause 5, or he was willing to do the self-serving entitlement bit as with so many others on the so-called Right by contravening the years-long "tone and common thread " he's had in his books and discussions on his radio programs regarding the Constitution - that of the strict-constructionist, original-intent-of-the-Founders approach to the document.
His support of Cruz for the position showed him as the hypocrite he is.
And he compounded it all with his virulent, over-the-top hysteria against Trump - on a par with Beck, Berry, Krauthammer, Will, Erickson - in that he was another one who would have handed this country over to Ilsa just so he could be proven right.
Pleased they took him off the local station here.

Not even close, man.

Frankly, I'd prefer him for AG should Sessions move on.
Agree 100% here. This would actually be more suited to him since he was an assistant to Ed Meese.

Your other ridiculous paragraph aside, this is just fricking wrong.

How about we choose someone that spends his entire life working to understand the constitution? Not a radio host.
The list the White House has released has serious people on it. Give me one of them, please.

I’ve read Liberty and Tyranny.
It was excellent. I learned More about the separation of powers than I did in ConLaw I in law school.
He’s an originalist and his writing is clear as a bell.
Would be great to have a Supreme Court Justice whose opinions could be read and understood by laypeople. Plus. It would be neat to have a lawyer, who continues to practice and has renown be on the court (practicing lawyers make way better judges IMO than law professors and appellate judges). He’s written several books (one specifically on the USSCT) so there’s a clear record of his judicial philosophy.
Plus. The meltdown of legal chickenshit analysts on CNN of nominating a talk radio host with a TV show on Fox News would be glorious beyond compare.

Yeah. You know nothing about Mark Levin.

Do you even know who Mark Levin is? The guy is pretty pro-Trump.

He's spent 15+ years spouting political opinions on TV and the radio. I don't want that from a justice.
But hey you like his politics so that's enough, right?

I agree With you LSU Patrick.
There’s a lot to be said for the kind of legal talent that allows you to write several books on the US constitution that are not only brilliantly written, but so understandable that they are bestsellers, not legal treatises.
That said. I would Prefer to see Ted Cruz in the spot. He’s litigated too, and has shown a similar, real understanding that is also well articulated.
Plus. He’s in his 40s.

My only thing about guys like Cruz and Lee getting a potential nod is their seats would be open. Lee’s seat would almost certainly go conservative because it’s in Utah but Cruz’s I’m not 100% sure his seat would go conservative

Give it up, man. You don't know what you're talking about.

Cruz is a Senator from Texas. I can’t see it going anywhere other than conservative.
The guy is brilliant. And his views on the US Const are similar if not identical to Scalia. Who was the most brilliant Justice ever.
Plus. Cruz neither the sex appeal nor likability to ever be president. Hell. I usually agree with the guy, but I would have found it difficult to vote for him. He has some genius thoughts, but not the vision to be a true leader.
Cruz’s first love is the law. And he could have real shaping of US policy and the legacy he craves on the Court.
I think his talents are wasted where he is. Senators are a dime a dozen I think.

I would love to see Cruz either get the SCOTUS seat or AG.

Of course, he is now, just as are Beck, Berry, Erickson, if only for propriety sake, or an attempt to get some of their audiences back.
Only listened to him for years, and identified with his apparent "originalist" approach to the Document.
Thought enough of him to own a copy of his Liberty Amendments.
Then one day Cruz showed up.

I was a pretty regular listener in 2016 and I don't agree with this. Make no mistake about it - he was Cruz all the way (I was until Cruz dropped out) and he was no fan of Trump, the candidate. But, he was not a Never Trump - and if he even briefly flirted with that -

No way - unsupportable. Levin thinks more of Islamic terrorists than he does of HRC.
