Democrats are in a conundrum now...do they deport the students or do they do away with online-only schooling this fall (which they planned on using to hurt Trump in the election).

Student visas were given knowing the student would go back to the mother land. Now, these students can be productive in their own countries, we don’t have to worry about Chinese stealing all our secrets, and we don’t have to worry about them never leaving. Likely means more jobs for American students. I’m good with this.

A lot of the students who come here from asian countries are actually very wealthy. Particularly china.

Without reading all the details, I figure schools will figure out some way to manage this. There are huge problems that could arise from this with advanced degrees and research work.

Because we are fighting a virus that is leaving a path of killing destruction.

Can you explain to me how keeping them in their home country is so bad? I mean, surely you wouldnt want people here that are younger ignoring stay at home rules that are going out and spreading this virus killing all of our loved ones

Net does not equal big

But generally speaking, college students aren’t taking jobs and aren’t committing crime. They’re just spending mom and dad’s money. More spending is what the economy desperately needs right now. And it’s only an added bonus if it’s money coming from foreigners and flowing into the United States.

What do we gain from this?

While this may be technically the correct thing to do its not going to help Trump politically and will be used against him. These students represent the best that other countries send us and are not the bad hombres he talks about. They are not here stealing jobs.

Trump could help himself by announcing that he understands the law behind this move by ICE but due to the unusual circumstances brought on by the pandemic and the desire to keep these bright productive students in our country he is issuing a temporary executive order to suspend the deportation of these students through December 31. Doing so will not hurt the country and will present Trump in a good light. The media will still find some way to be critical but this will only expose them even more for their biases.

But having them in the US means they are spending money on rent, food, and entertainment. What do we gain by sending those dollars away?
