Congress abdicated their legislative duties many years ago.

Now they just wait to enrich themselves while passing legislation handed to them by corrupt lobbyists

For like the 9000 time, Trump doesn’t want tariffs. Once the other country drops theirs we drop ours.

That's not what a lot of people on here are saying. Bottom line: using tariffs as a tool is a good thing but tariffs as a permanent policy is not.

I love it.

Tax imports, not income.

I'd be fine with that too but I'm still paying income tax and now many products are going to increase in price. This congress has done nothing and I highly doubt they'll even consider repealing the 16th amendment.

The stated goal of Trump’s tariffs is $500 billion in tax revenue.

Why do we want the government to have more money when they are just wasting the money that they already have? Just cut spending.

You want to cut your debt? You both cut your spending and devoted as much discretionary income as you have to do that. That "extra" revenue from tariffs would be going to that as well.

How about no tariffs and no income tax. Why does it have to be one or the other when we can just not do either?
bc it's not really about that. this is about bringing back manufacturing or neutralizing the negatives from it. free trade is not good for the middle class.
