The amount of actual special forces inside the embassy is probably minimal. And the ones that are there are more than likely officers and support personnel for SOF troops in the region.

Yeah
I had a friend deploy 1 1/2 years ago for a one year tour. He was 48 when he deployed, not saying he couldn't go if need be but he isn't some grunt.

It’s not going to be another Iran hostage situation. We have a frickton if Marines with guns in the embassy and a shitload of warplanes and helicopters in the region to assist if needed. It it really starts to get dicey the bombs will start to drop.
In 79 there were maybe 8-10 Marines in the region and probably no air support available.
