Ham sammies and a grand jury

YORK
Many York County defense lawyers are claiming that the county grand jury in June did not properly review more than 900 cases presented in a single day and want every indictment issued that month tossed.
Over two dozen defense lawyers — 27 in all — filed the motion to quash all the June indictments, discharge the current grand jury, and have a new grand jury picked because the lawyers say 904 true bill indictments were issued in one day. That number is more than double any previous month in 2018 and about triple some months.
Not a single case was no billed in June — meaning all 904 cases went forward against the accused.
The average time per indictment was 39 seconds in June, meaning there is no way that grand jurors could have properly considered each case, the lawyers said.

I wish more people knew what a scam the whole grand jury system is.
Who knew that one person having total secrecy and total control of a process would end badly?

It would be impressive if bureaucrats could actually work that fast. I doubt the cases were actually presented.

I sat on a grand jury once. We had about 150 cases we had to review. We indicted all but 15 of them.
Not sure how these guys are even supposed to review 900 cases in a month. Not possible with a single grand jury unless they are meeting every day of the month (and staying late).

Um yeah about that.

Yeah but I'm talking even in theory. I don't see how a proper grand jury can review 900 cases, even if they were really reviewing them. It took us a full week (9-5 with an hour lunch) to review and vote on 150 cases. And I thought we went through most of them pretty fast.
Many cases go like this: the Cop comes in, tells us he pulled over a baw with a bunch of meth in his car. DA asks Cop a couple of questions, then Cop and DA leave room. We then vote yay or nay. The whole process takes 15 minutes or so for open and shut cases like that.
Most of our cases were like that and it took us a week for 150. I can't imagine 9 fricking hundred. They would have to impanel the jury every day for the entire month (seems unreasonable).
It seems to me, in very populated counties like that, you'd need several grand juries to split the load. Is that a thing, TD lawyers?
