antiabortion demonstrations
I'm not sure how much the pro life group on campus has changed but they go out there once or twice a week and I think they have a sign up that says should abortion remain legal? One side yes other side no. The couple times I did it a few people came up.
When I was at LSU a group came to LSU and showed graphic posters. TNBhoy will remember that.

Unfortunately, I was there as it slowly dissipated into crap in the early 90s thanks to the religious nutjobs.
The nutjobs were there throughout the 80's also... free speech alley is more likely a casualty of the internet age than anything.
Back in the 80's it used to draw huge crowds... Gov. Roemer even showed up one Wed. My memories as a freshman was the burning of LSU student football tickets when broadhead reduced the seating size in the student section.

I was the only Jewish kid who argued with a bunch of Middle Easterners. The Shah of Iran was still around and we always argued about him.

FREE SPEECH ALLEY
DOES IT STILL EXIST?
No. The alley itself physically is not there any more, its filled in with building.
The bench at the front of the union near the former alley - commonly also referred to as "free speech alley" - is now only ever used by Brother Jed so he can call all the hotties "whores" as they walk by.
