re: Feds slow walking refunds

When I taught in the inner city public schools in north Baton Rouge tax return season was a very exciting time for my students. Practically every child showed up with multiple pairs of new Jordans and new phones. The kids would ask me how much my return was and I told them I got $17 back. They all laughed and said I was a loser. So then I asked them how much did their parents paid in taxes during the previous year? Crickets. They said their parents did not pay any taxes. They were perplexed when I informed them that I paid about $8000 in a year in taxes. They couldn’t wrap their minds around that fact.

Was it a multiple of what you paid in?
