quote:they are both shitholes. New Orleans sucks and smells like piss, and people from Louisiana think there is not any other City in America where you can get good food, and don't have to put up with 3rd world shite
New Orleans is still charming, El Paso is still a shite hole

Now as far as more opportunity and things to do, NOLA obviously beats EP all day long. El Paso is boring. It's in the middle of nowhere and the job market is terrible. But it's not unsafe.
Terrible job market??? Piles of money being made in El Paso servicing that side of the Permian....
El Paso ain't a bad place considering where it is....it is really isolated and is a hub for all of southern New Mexico and west Texas....very safe town and extremely family friendly...huge military presence...all in all if you've got to be in that part of the world its bigger than Cruces and heads and shoulders above Carlsbad LOL...

It's not as easy to get a career job like it is in other big Texas cities. Wages tend to be lower in comparison as well. Although cost of living is also lower.
I moved away in 2004 for a similar job in Phoenix, AZ. I make $50K more per year doing the same thing. I realize that's more the exception than the rule. But a lot of El Pasoans move to Austin, San Antonio, DFW, Houston and Phoenix primarily because of economic reasons.

By what metric have you made your determination? Realize the town is led by a white, republican mayor.
